2014 was the eighty-fifth season for the Detroit Lions. During the offseason they hired Jim Caldwell to lead the team. During his time in the NFL he was head coach for three years. They finished the season 11-5-0 in the regular season. However, they lost their first playoff game to the Dallas Cowboys 24-20.
