1968 was the ninth season for the New York Jets and the fifth season for Weeb Ewbank as the head coach of the Jets. They finished the season 11-3-0 in the regular season and 2-0 in the playoffs eventually winning the AFL championship against the Baltimore Colts 16-7 for the team's first championship. At the conclusion of the season one different people were recognized for their successful seasons: Joe Namath, Super Bowl Most Valuable Player and AP AFL Player of the Year.
