Career Summary

Clive Rush was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1963 to 1970, finishing his career as the head coach of the Boston Patriots. Over his eight years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 46-60-6. He was the head coach of the Boston Patriots from 1969 until the 1970 season, during which time the Patriots went 6-22-0. During his career he was a head coach for two seasons.

Career Awards

During the 1968 season as the offensive coordinator of the New York Jets he coached Joe Namath to the AP AFL Player of the Year.

Before he was a head coach, Rush served as an assistant coach for Weeb Ewbank. He spent six years as an assistant coach to Weeb Ewbank, finishing as the offensive coordinator in 1968. One assistant coach from his coaching staffs, John Mazur, was eventually hired as a head coach. After coaching on Clive Rush's coaching staff, he was the head coach of the New England Patriots for two seasons where he combined for a regular season record of 8-15-0 and 0-0 in the playoffs.

Rush was born on Saturday, February 14, 1931 in De Graff, Ohio. He died on Friday, August 22, 1980 at the age of 49.
