Career Summary
Butch Davis was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1989 to 2004, finishing his career as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns. Over his ten years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 81-79-0. He was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 2001 until the 2004 season, during which time the Browns went 25-39-0. During his career he was a head coach for four seasons. He was fired from the Browns on Tuesday, November 30, 2004. Davis resigned from the Browns with five games remaining in the 2004 season.

Before he was a head coach, Davis served as an assistant coach for Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer. Five of these years were spent on Johnson's coaching staff. During his time as head coach, four assistant coaches, (Chuck Pagano, Todd Bowles, Bruce Arians, and Rob Chudzinski) on his coaching staff were hired as head coaches across the league.
