Biography

Harland Svare was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1962 until 1972, finishing his career with the San Diego Chargers as their head coach. Over his six years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative record of 25-55-4. During his career he was a head coach for four seasons. His first head coaching opportunity came with the Los Angeles Rams. He led the team for three seasons, compiling a record of 14-26-2. His next head coaching stint came with the San Diego Chargers. He coached the Chargers for the 1972 season, leading the team to a 4-9-1 record.
