Harland Svare was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1960 to 1972, finishing his career as the head coach of the San Diego Chargers. Over his twelve years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 68-89-9. During his career he was a head coach for four seasons, first with the Los Angeles Rams. He led the Rams for three seasons, compiling a record of 14-26-2. His next head coaching stint was with the San Diego Chargers for the 1972 season, leading the team to a 4-9-1 record.
