Biography

John Madden was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1967 until 1978, finishing his career with the Oakland Raiders as their head coach. Over his twelve years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative record of 128-35-7. During his career he was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 1969 until the 1978 season. The Raiders went 103-32-7 during their ten seasons with Madden as head coach. Throughout Madden's coaching career his teams led the league in victories two times, most recently in 1976. During the 1974 season as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders he coached Ken Stabler to the AP Offensive Player of the Year.
