The Oakland Raiders' tenth season was in 1969, playing their home games at Oakland–Alameda County Coliseum. During the offseason they promoted John Madden to lead the team. Madden previously was the linebackers coach of the Oakland Raiders and had two years of coaching experience in the AFL. They finished the year 12-1-1 in the regular season and 1-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 17-7.
