The Atlanta Falcons' fifteenth season was in 1980, and it was the fourth season Leeman Bennett served as the head coach of the team. The Falcons played their home games at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. They finished the year 12-4-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the NFC West, but they lost their first playoff game to the Dallas Cowboys 30-27. At the end of the season Al Richardson earned AP Defensive Rookie of the Year and Buddy Curry earned AP Defensive Rookie of the Year.
