The Atlanta Falcons' fifteenth season was in 1980, and it was the fourth season Leeman Bennett served as the head coach of the team. They finished the year 12-4-0 in the regular season but they lost their first playoff game to the Dallas Cowboys 30-27. At the end of the season Al Richardson earned AP Defensive Rookie of the Year and Buddy Curry earned AP Defensive Rookie of the Year.
