1998 was the thirty-ninth season for the Dallas Cowboys. During the offseason they hired Chan Gailey to lead the team. Gailey previously was the offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers and has a total of ten years of coaching in the NFL. They finished the season 10-6-0 in the regular season. However, they lost their first playoff game to the Arizona Cardinals 20-7.
