New England Patriots at New Orleans Saints 36 to 20
Sunday, September 17, 2017, Week 2Both the New England Patriots and the New Orleans Saints entered their Week 2 game in New Orleans after losing Week 1. The Patriots, coming off a Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in which they allowed 21 unanswered points to finish the game, came out with their offense firing on all cylinders.
Quarterback Tom Brady threw for three touchdowns in the opening quarter as the Patriots jumped out to a 20-3 lead by the end of the quarter. The Patriots maintained the 17-point lead by the end of the first half, going into halftime lead 30-13. The lead would grow to 23 points until the Saints scored the last touchdown of the game for a final score of 36-20.
Brady carved up the Saints defense for 447 yards of passing, becoming only the second 40-year old quarterback to throw for 400+ yards with three or more touchdowns (Warren Moon being the first). He also set the record for most games with three touchdowns and zero interceptions (52).
