Jimmy Conzelman was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1921 to 1948, finishing his career as the head coach of the Chicago Cardinals. Over his fifteen years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 87-64-20. During his career he was a head coach for fourteen seasons, first with the Milwaukee Badgers. He led the Badgers for one season, compiling a record of 2-4-3. His next head coaching stint was with the Rock Island Independents for the 1922 season, leading the team to a 4-2-1 record. His third head coach placement began in 1923 with the Milwaukee Badgers. He coached them for one season and the team had a 7-2-3 record during his tenure. During his entire head coaching career, his six teams combined for a record of 83-62-19 across fourteen seasons including going 1-1-0 in the playoffs.
Conzelman was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1964 after his playing career.

Before he was a head coach, Conzelman served as an assistant coach for Frank Coughlin and Budge Garrett. During this time, he coached for one year for Frank Coughlin and Budge Garrett. During his time as head coach, two assistant coaches, (Phil Handler and Buddy Parker) on his coaching staff were hired as head coaches across the league. His coaching tree has combined for a record of 105-94-9 in the regular season and 3-1 in the playoffs during their seventeen seasons as head coach after serving on his coaching staffs. The coaching tree has combined for two championships, most recently in 1953 by the Detroit Lions, led by Buddy Parker.
Conzelman was born on Sunday, March 6, 1898 in St. Louis, Missouri. He died on Wednesday, August 5, 1970 at the age of 72.
