The Dallas Cowboys' twentieth season was in 1979, and it was the twentieth season Tom Landry served as the head coach of the team. The Cowboys played their home games at Texas Stadium. They finished the year 11-5-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the NFC East, but they lost their first playoff game to the Los Angeles Rams 21-19.
