The Pittsburgh Steelers' thirty-ninth season was in 1972, and it was the fourth season Chuck Noll served as the head coach of the team. They finished the year 11-3-0 in the regular season and 1-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the Miami Dolphins 21-17. At the end of the season Joe Greene earned AP Defensive Player of the Year and Franco Harris earned AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.
