1985 was the thirty-seventh season for the Indianapolis Colts. During the offseason they hired Rod Dowhower to lead the team. Dowhower previously was the offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Cardinals and has a total of six years of coaching in the NFL. They finished the season 5-11-0, 4-4-0 at home and 1-7-0 on the road. At the conclusion of the season Duane Bickett was awarded with the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year.
