Biography

Bobby Ross was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1978 until 2000, finishing his career with the Detroit Lions as their head coach. Over his thirteen years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative record of 106-102-0. During his career he was a head coach for nine seasons. His first head coaching opportunity came with the San Diego Chargers. He led the team for five seasons, compiling a record of 47-33-0. His next head coaching stint came with the Detroit Lions. He coached the Lions from 1997 to 2000, leading the team to a 31-33-0 record during his four seasons as head coach. During the 1997 season as the head coach of the Detroit Lions he coached Barry Sanders to the AP Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player.
