Career Summary
Don McCafferty was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1959 to 1973, finishing his career as the head coach of the Detroit Lions. Over his fifteen years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 133-67-6. During his career he was a head coach for four seasons, first with the Baltimore Colts. He led the Colts for three seasons, compiling a record of 26-15-1. In 1970, the Colts won the Super Bowl against the Dallas Cowboys 16-13. His next head coaching stint was with the Detroit Lions for the 1973 season, leading the team to a 6-7-1 record. During his entire head coaching career, his two teams combined for a record of 32-22-2 across four seasons including going 4-1-0 in the playoffs.
