The San Francisco 49ers' thirty-first season was in 1976, playing their home games at Candlestick Park. During the offseason they hired Monte Clark to lead the team. Clark previously was the offensive line coach/offensive assistant coach/offensive run game coordinator of the Miami Dolphins and had six years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the season 8-6-0, 4-3-0 at home and 4-3-0 on the road.
