1984 was the nineteenth season for the Miami Dolphins and the fourteenth season for Don Shula as the head coach of the Dolphins. They finished the season 14-2-0 in the regular season and 2-1 in the playoffs eventually losing to the San Francisco 49ers 38-16. At the conclusion of the season one different people were recognized for their successful seasons: Dan Marino, AP Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player.
