The Houston Oilers' second season was in 1961, and it was the second season Lou Rymkus served as the head coach of the team. They finished the year 10-3-1 in the regular season and 1-0 in the playoffs eventually winning the AFL championship against the San Diego Chargers 10-3, the team's second championship win. At the end of the season, George Blanda was awarded with the AP AFL Player of the Year award.
