The San Francisco 49ers' forty-second season was in 1987, and it was the eighth season Bill Walsh served as the head coach of the team. They finished the year 13-2-0 in the regular season but they lost their first playoff game to the Minnesota Vikings 36-24. At the end of the season, Jerry Rice was awarded with the AP Offensive Player of the Year award.
