1998 was the seventy-eighth season for the Green Bay Packers and the sixth season for Mike Holmgren as the head coach of the Packers. They finished the season 11-5-0 in the regular season. However, they lost their first playoff game to the San Francisco 49ers 30-27. At the conclusion of the season Reggie White was awarded with the AP Defensive Player of the Year.
