The Washington Redskins' twelfth season was in 1943, playing their home games at Griffith Stadium. During the offseason they promoted Dutch Bergman to lead the team. Bergman previously was the scout of the Washington Redskins and had one year of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the regular season 6-3-1 and continued to the postseason. In their first game they faced the New York Giants, winning 28-0. They faced the Chicago Bears for the NFL championship, losing 41-21.
