The San Diego Chargers' fifteenth season was in 1974, playing their home games at San Diego Stadium. During the offseason they hired Tommy Prothro to lead the team. Prothro brought two years of experience as a head coach. They finished the season 5-9-0, 3-4-0 at home and 2-5-0 on the road. At the end of the season, Don Woods was awarded with the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
