The Baltimore Colts' first season was in 1953, playing their home games at Memorial Stadium. During the offseason they hired Keith Molesworth to lead the team. Molesworth had never previously coached in the NFL in any capacity before the 1953 season. They finished the season 3-9-0, 2-4-0 at home and 1-5-0 on the road.
