The Oakland Raiders' fourth season was in 1963, playing their home games at Frank Youell Field. During the offseason they hired Al Davis to lead the team. Davis previously was the wide receivers coach of the San Diego Chargers and had four years of coaching experience in the AFL and NFL. They finished the season 10-4-0, 6-1-0 at home and 4-3-0 on the road.
