1975 was the sixteenth season for the Houston Oilers. During the offseason they hired Bum Phillips to lead the team. Phillips previously was the defensive coordinator/defensive line coach of the Houston Oilers and has a total of one year of coaching in the NFL. They finished the season 10-4-0, 5-2-0 at home and 5-2-0 on the road. At the conclusion of the season Robert Brazile was awarded with the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year.
