Career Summary
Alex Webster was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1967 to 1973, finishing his career as the head coach of the New York Giants. Over his seven years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 43-54-1. He was the head coach of the New York Giants from 1969 until the 1973 season, during which time the Giants went 29-40-1. During his career he was a head coach for five seasons.

Before he was a head coach, Webster served as an assistant coach for Allie Sherman. He spent two years as an assistant coach to Allie Sherman, finishing as the offensive backfield coach in 1968. One assistant coach from his coaching staffs, Joe Walton, was eventually hired as a head coach. After coaching on Alex Webster's coaching staff, he was the head coach of the New York Jets for seven seasons where he combined for a regular season record of 53-57-1 and 1-2 in the playoffs.
