Week 9 Coaching Hot Seat

By Stephen Juza

November 3rd, 2026

Almost at the halfway point in the season, several coaches are on the hot seat that we’ve been tracking for the last few weeks. Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers are still searching for their first win of the season. Todd Bowles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers managed to win a game without completing a pass, the first time since 1974 an NFL has been able to claim that, and Kevin Stefanski may start really feeling the heat over the last half of the season.

With the pressure mounting on sidelines across the league, fans looking to take a breather between tense game drives often turn to alternative forms of entertainment. Sports enthusiasts and online bettors frequently search for options like a melbet apk to track mobile odds, explore international gaming markets, or play quick casino games directly from their smartphones. Whether adjusting to sudden weather conditions on the gridiron or trying out mobile gaming applications, having quick access to key features is crucial when high stakes are involved.

Hottest Seats:

Todd Bowles - 58% chance of being fired

Bowles managed to lead his team to a victory on Sunday, and while the stat line of zero completions will carry many of the headlines, it was likely a well executed gameplan that helped secure their third win of the season. Playing during a downpour and standing water on the field, but Buccaneers ran the ball 56 times, and attempted only three passes. Despite this, they still posted a 16-0 victory, the first time since 1945 a team has won by double-digits without a pass completion.

While we are still predicting Bowles will be fired by the end of the season, this victory decreased his firing odds by almost 10 percentage points. The Buccaneers, who despite being 3-5, have moved into second place in the NFC South, a half game behind the Carolina Panthers. Their win streak, currently at two games, faces a tough road test in Week 9 when they will travel to Chicago to take on the 6-2 Chicago Bears.

Jim Harbaugh - 57% chance of being fired

The seat is starting to really heat up for Harbaugh, who despite the high expectations coming into the season remain the last winless team in the league. Coming off a bye week, they fared no better than their first six games. They entered the game with the last-ranked offense in the league and somehow managed to underperform the very low expectations.

Things feel really bad in Los Angeles. Justin Herbert has experienced such impressive regression from last season, he is currently on pace for only 12 touchdown passes for the season. This would be almost half as many as he has ever thrown in a single season, and that was in the 2023 season where he only played 13 games. It’s not just touchdowns, his interception rate is almost twice what he next-worst season was (2025).

Harbaugh brought in a new offensive coordinator, Mike McDaniel, this offseason, and something is clearly not working in LA. It’s not too late to turn it around for Harbaugh, but time is running out if he wants to get a fourth season with the Chargers. They have a great opportunity to right the ship this week when they host the 2-5 Houston Texans.

Kevin Stefanski - 50% chance of being fired

We have a new coach in the third spot on our list, with Kevin Stefanski hovering right at a coin flip if he will be fired by the end of the season. Coming off a 16-0 loss against Bowles and the Buccaneers, the loss dropped the Falcons to 3-5 on the season, but they stayed only a half-game out of first place for the NFC South. In a division where someone has to win, the entire division is below .500 and no more than a game away from first place.

The Falcons will host the 5-2 Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9, who are coming into the game with a three-game win streak.
