The Los Angeles Dons' third season was in 1948. During the offseason they hired Jimmy Phelan to lead the team. Phelan had never previously coached in the AAFC in any capacity before the 1948 season. They finished the season 7-7-0, 3-4-0 at home and 4-3-0 on the road.
