Biography

Steve Owen was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1931 until 1957, finishing his career with the Philadelphia Eagles as their assistant coach. Over his twenty-five years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative record of 160-116-18. During his career he was the head coach of the New York Giants from 1931 until the 1953 season. The Giants went 153-100-17 during their twenty-three seasons with Owen as head coach. Throughout Owen's coaching career his teams led the league in victories three times, most recently in 1938.
