Biography

Career Summary

Walt Michaels was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1962 to 1982, finishing his career as the head coach of the New York Jets. Over his ten years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 56-85-2. He was the head coach of the New York Jets from 1977 until the 1982 season, during which time the Jets went 39-47-1. During his career he was a head coach for six seasons.

Before he was a head coach, Michaels served as an assistant coach for Marty Feldman and Mike McCormack. Three of these years were spent on McCormack's coaching staff.
