The Detroit Lions' eighth season was in 1937, playing their home games at University of Detroit Stadium. During the offseason they hired Dutch Clark to lead the team. Clark had never previously coached in the NFL in any capacity before the 1937 season. They finished the season 7-4-0, 4-2-0 at home and 3-2-0 on the road.
