Punk Berryman was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1924 until 1926, finishing his career with the Brooklyn Lions as their head coach. Over his two years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative record of 14-8-1. During his career he was a head coach for two seasons. His first head coaching opportunity came with the Frankford Yellow Jackets. He led the team for one season, compiling a record of 11-2-1. In 1924, the Jackets won the championship against the Dayton Triangles 32-7. His next head coaching stint came with the Brooklyn Lions. He coached the Lions for the 1926 season, leading the team to a 3-6-0 record. Throughout Berryman's coaching career his teams led the league in victories during the 1924 season.
