Punk Berryman was a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) from 1924 to 1926, finishing his career as the head coach of the Brooklyn Lions. Over his two years of coaching his teams compiled a cumulative win/loss record of 14-8-1. During his career he was a head coach for two seasons, first with the Frankford Yellow Jackets. He led the Jackets for one season, compiling a record of 11-2-1. In 1924, the Jackets won the championship against the Dayton Triangles 32-7. His next head coaching stint was with the Brooklyn Lions for the 1926 season, leading the team to a 3-6-0 record. During his entire head coaching career, his two teams combined for a record of 14-8-1 across two seasons. Throughout Berryman's coaching career his teams led the league in victories during the 1924 season.
