Biography

Dennard Wilson is a football coach in the National Football League (NFL) and has been the passing game coordinator/defensive backs coach for the New York Jets since 2019. Prior to this role, he started with the Jets as the team's defensive backs coach in 2017.

Playing Career

College Career: University of Maryland

Wilson played college football at the University of Maryland from 2000-2003. He saw significant playing time his freshman season, playing in six games and starting one, until a knee injury sidelined him halfway through the year. His sophomore year, he played in ten games while the Terrapins went 10-2 and won the ACC for the first time since 1985. By his junior season, he was the starting strong safety on the team that finished second in the ACC and won their first bowl game since the 1985 season. After another successful season his senior year, he was named honorable mention All-ACC in 2003.

NFL Career: Washington Redskins

After his time at Maryland, Wilson was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Washington Redskins. Wilson injured his knee early in training camp, and was placed on the team's injured reserve list. After the 2004 season, Wilson retired from professional football.
