The Carolina Panthers' first season was in 1995, playing their home games at Frank Howard Field at Memorial Stadium. During the offseason they hired Dom Capers to lead the team. Capers previously was the defensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers and had nine years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the season 7-9-0, 5-3-0 at home and 2-6-0 on the road.
