The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' fourth season was in 1979, and it was the fourth season John McKay served as the head coach of the team. The Buccaneers played their home games at Tampa Stadium. They finished the year 10-6-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the NFC Central, and 1-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the Los Angeles Rams 9-0. At the end of the season, Lee Roy Selmon was awarded with the AP Defensive Player of the Year award.
