The Minnesota Vikings' twenty-fourth season was in 1984, playing their home games at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. During the offseason they promoted Les Steckel to lead the team. Steckel previously was the wide receivers coach of the Minnesota Vikings and had six years of coaching experience in the NFL. He was fired from the Vikings on Tuesday, December 18, 1984. They finished the season 3-13-0, 2-6-0 at home and 1-7-0 on the road.
