The Houston Oilers' twenty-seventh season was in 1986, playing their home games at Reliant Astrodome. During the offseason they promoted Jerry Glanville to lead the team. Glanville previously was the interim head coach/defensive coordinator of the Houston Oilers and had six years of coaching experience in the NFL.
