The Kansas City Chiefs' thirty-first season was in 1990, and it was the second season Marty Schottenheimer served as the head coach of the team. The Chiefs played their home games at Arrowhead Stadium. They finished the year 11-5-0 in the regular season but they lost their first playoff game to the Miami Dolphins 17-16. At the end of the season, Barry Word was awarded with the Comeback Player of the Year award.
