The Kansas City Chiefs' forty-fourth season was in 2003, and it was the third season Dick Vermeil served as the head coach of the team. The Chiefs played their home games at Arrowhead Stadium. They finished the year 13-3-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the AFC West, but they lost their first playoff game to the Indianapolis Colts 38-31. At the end of the season, Will Shields was awarded with the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
