The New England Patriots' forty-second season was in 2001, and it was the second season Bill Belichick served as the head coach of the team. The Patriots played their home games at Foxboro Stadium. They finished the year 11-5-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the AFC East, and 3-0 in the playoffs eventually winning the NFL championship against the St. Louis Rams 20-17, the team's first championship win. At the end of the season, Tom Brady was awarded with the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award.
