The Arizona Cardinals' seventy-sixth season was in 1996, playing their home games at Sun Devil Stadium. During the offseason they hired Vince Tobin to lead the team. Tobin previously was the defensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts and had nine years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the season 7-9-0, 5-3-0 at home and 2-6-0 on the road. At the end of the season, Simeon Rice was awarded with the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
