The San Francisco 49ers' forty-third season was in 1988, and it was the tenth season Bill Walsh served as the head coach of the team. The 49ers played their home games at Candlestick Park. They finished the year 10-6-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the NFC West, and 3-0 in the playoffs eventually winning the NFL championship against the Cincinnati Bengals 20-16, the team's third championship win. At the end of the season Jerry Rice earned Super Bowl Most Valuable Player and Roger Craig earned AP Offensive Player of the Year.
