The Detroit Lions' fifty-sixth season was in 1985, playing their home games at Pontiac Silverdome. During the offseason they hired Darryl Rogers to lead the team. Rogers had never previously coached in the NFL in any capacity before the 1985 season. They finished the season 7-9-0, 6-2-0 at home and 1-7-0 on the road.
