The New York Jets' eighteenth season was in 1977, playing their home games at Shea Stadium. During the offseason they hired Walt Michaels to lead the team. Michaels previously was the linebackers coach of the Philadelphia Eagles in 1975 and has a total of four years of coaching in the AFL and NFL.
