The Pittsburgh Steelers' thirty-ninth season was in 1972, and it was the fourth season Chuck Noll served as the head coach of the team. The Steelers played their home games at Three Rivers Stadium. They finished the year 11-3-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the Central, and 1-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the Miami Dolphins 21-17. At the end of the season Joe Greene earned AP Defensive Player of the Year and Franco Harris earned AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.
