The Pittsburgh Steelers' fifty-ninth season was in 1992, playing their home games at Three Rivers Stadium. During the offseason they hired Bill Cowher to lead the team. Cowher previously was the defensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs and had seven years of coaching experience in the NFL. They finished the year 11-5-0 in the regular season, en route to winning the Central, but they lost their first playoff game to the Buffalo Bills 24-3. At the end of the season, Bill Cowher was awarded with the Coach of the Year award.
