The Pittsburgh Pirates' first season was in 1933, playing their home games at Forbes Field. During the offseason they hired Forrest Douds to lead the team. Douds had never previously coached in the NFL in any capacity before the 1933 season. They finished the season 3-6-2, 2-3-0 at home and 1-3-2 on the road.
