The New York Jets' forty-fifth season was in 2004, and it was the fourth season Herman Edwards served as the head coach of the team. The Jets played their home games at Giants Stadium. They finished the year 10-6-0 in the regular season and 1-1 in the playoffs, eventually losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-17. At the end of the season, Jonathan Vilma was awarded with the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
