The San Diego Chargers' eleventh season was in 1970, playing their home games at San Diego Stadium. During the offseason they promoted Charlie Waller to lead the team. Waller previously was the interim head coach of the San Diego Chargers and had one year of coaching experience in the AFL. They finished the season 5-6-3, 2-3-2 at home and 3-3-1 on the road.
